A Passport has no API and no database to connect to. It writes files. CStoreNexus reads them — the transaction journal for today's sales, the day-close files for the shift report — from the office PC you already have, and turns them into the screens you run the stores from.
What it reads from a Passport

Every page says which of those it was built from, and the date its data runs through. A number you cannot trace to a file the register wrote does not appear.
How it connects — no API, no new hardware
A small Windows agent, the collector, installs on the office PC at each store. It watches the XMLGateway share the Passport already exposes, collects every minute, uploads every five, and never deletes a local file — the store keeps its own copy. It copies; it does not move, and it changes nothing on the register. Installing it is a short remote session per store.
The details that only matter if you run Passports
The day rolls at store close
Not at midnight. The business day boundary is read from the file every time — the previous close, or the first sale — never from a clock setting someone has to maintain.
Fuel prepay is counted once
A prepaid fill's completion restates the whole sale, basket included. The original is dropped whole, so neither the fuel nor the cigarettes are counted twice.
The live number is labelled
A Passport writes about 85% of inside sales to its journal. So the live figure is called what it is — the day in progress — and the shift report is the record. Reports run on accepted shift reports only.
Fuel and lottery stay out of departments
Fuel and the lottery codes are reported on their own lines, so a department total is a department total.
Prices and promotions, back to the register
Change a retail in the price book and the change is written in the Passport's own maintenance format — the item, link and mix-and-match files — and held in a queue that names every register it is for. Nothing reaches a till without your accept, and only the register's own acknowledgement counts as “on the register”.

Questions Passport operators ask
Does it change anything on my Passport?
Reading changes nothing: the collector copies the files the register already writes and leaves them where they are. The only thing that ever goes the other way is a price or promotion change you have accepted, written in the Passport's own file format.
Can it run beside the back office I have now?
Yes. The collector copies files rather than moving them, so it does not take anything away from another system. It is how our own stations were brought on: side by side, comparing the two, before anyone relied on the new number.
Do I need new hardware or a technician at each store?
No. The collector installs on the office PC you already have, in a short remote session.
How does my price book get in?
From the Passport's own price book export at the Manager Workstation, or from your current back office's item export. Thirty-five thousand items import in one pass, with cost and retail kept per location.
What does it cost?
$249 per store, per month. Every screen, every report, the collector, the phone app and unlimited users are included — there are no modules.
