Questions
The ones every operator asks first.
Which registers does it work with?
Gilbarco Passport and Verifone Commander (Ruby), through the XMLGateway share each of them already exposes on the store PC. A site whose register only hands over a transaction journal is read from that journal. If you run something else, ask — the collector reads files, and most registers write them.
Do I need new hardware, or a technician at each store?
No. The collector is a small Windows agent that installs on the office PC you already have at each store. It watches the register's share, collects every minute, uploads every few minutes, and never deletes a local file. Installing it is a short remote session per store, and from then on it looks after itself.
How does my price book get in?
From the export you can already make — CStoreOffice's item export, or the Passport's own price book export from the Manager Workstation. Thirty-five thousand items import in one pass, with cost and retail kept per location. Nothing is typed twice.
Can I trust the numbers?
Yes — and every screen shows you why. Live sales come from the register's own transaction journal within minutes. At day close the shift report is built from the register's own movement files, and every report — and every answer from Nexus Assistant — runs on shift reports a person has accepted. Each report says exactly which data it used.
What can I ask Nexus Assistant?
Anything about your sales: merchandise, departments, items, fuel by grade, lottery, purchases and vendors, hour by hour — for any stores and any dates, against last year or the period before. It answers with tables and charts worked out from your own accepted reports, says which data it used, and changes the answer when you say so: “swap it”, “only the top 5”, “add last year”. It is on the web and in the phone app.
Does it handle the time clock and payroll?
Yes, in every account at no extra cost. ZKTeco cloud time clocks — fingerprint, card or PIN — send each punch on their own. You see who is in at every store, fix a missed punch with a full history of every change, approve the week, and export the payroll register — regular and overtime hours, rate and gross — to CSV or Excel for your payroll provider. Managers see hours; only owners see pay.
Who can see what?
Five roles. Owners, Admins and Supervisors accept and change things. Managers and Employees see, and only the stores on their list — every other store is removed from their view at sign-in, not merely hidden on the screen. Access is granted by an Owner and can be turned off in one click, with the phone signed out too.
Is my data safe — and what if I leave?
Backups run every hour, a full copy of your data is taken every day, and a restore is tested every week. Your register's own files never leave your store PC — the collector copies, it does not move. Every report exports to CSV, and if you ever leave you have 30 days to export anything else before your account's data is deleted.
